Daylight savings time and a new show!

Don't forget, you need to set your clocks back an hour, Daylight savings has ended! But, the crafting never stops! We have a new Joy of Crafting episode tonight because it's time to get ready for the holidays!

Our first guest is new to the show but not new to all of you Market City fans! Joselyn from our Market City location has been busy, busy, busy, helping to decorate the store. So happy she could take some time to come on the show and help us make a fabulous wreath!

Then, we have a special segment we did earlier when Katherine Taylor form Daniel Smith Watercolors came to Hawaii.

On this show, she explains how those beautiful paints get made! I was so amazed by the whole process!

Lastly, I get a little crafting in with a simple but fun new DIY ornament using one of my favorite new stamps from Lawn Fawn.

Hope you're having fun doing some holiday crafting yourself! Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!

Make It Monday - By Request, Foxy Bookmark!

This past Saturday, I was doing this make and take at the Pearl City store's Wild Hearts crafting party. Posted a photo online and got a request for instructions. So here it is, Cami!

Take a 4" x4" cardstock in a "fox color". Use your MSC Score board and score at 2", turn and score again at  2" so there's four squares.

You can use scissors, but I like using my trimmer to cut out one of the squares.

Use the scissors to cut the outer squares diagonally across, leaving you with two triangles.

Fold the triangles in, overlap and tape down to create the base bookmark.

Turn the base bookmark over. Cut out two half hearts from a light cream color for the eye patches.

Make sure that the opening point is a the bottom on the base piece, tape the eye patches to the base.

I used black rhinestone stickers, 4mm for the eyes and 6mm for the nose.

For the ears, I used one of the scrap triangles and placed it behind the head and slightly folded them over to get the ear size.

Then, I cut them a little off from the fold line to create a tab for tape. Taped the ears behind.

Then to finish, I flipped it over, as you can see, it's not so pretty.

So, I took the other triangle piece and taped it over for a cleaner finish.

Now, you can use your finished fox for a bookmark or in a planner!

Thanks for stopping by today and hope you are enjoying your last few official days of Summer!

Make It Monday - Back to School? Keep Cool!

It's a special Make It Monday because it is the start of a brand new school year! I've been thinking a lot lately about all my teacher friends and I think they are really COOL! So, why not make them a fan of their own?!

I chose some school-ish design printed paper and used the exclusive die at Ben Franklin to cut out the fan cover shape.

Next, I placed some Meriken double stick tape all around the edge of the fan.

Then, I taped down the printed papers on each side of the fan. This is for my Bestie and she's the librarian of her school, so I used the bookshelf design on one side.

And traditional apples on the other side of the fan.

Then, I thought I would personalize the fan using some Varsity design Thicker Stickers!

So easy to do, I hope she likes it! Thanks for stopping by today and I hope the new school year brings you lots of fun times, too!

Make It Monday - From rain comes ...

To say that it rained this past weekend would be an understatement! But when it's just a little sprinkle of rain and some sunshine, we get rainbows! So, thought I'd cheer you all up for Make It Monday with some quick and easy rainbows!

Using a nested circle die and your Big Shot, cut out some circles from cardstock in the colors of the rainbow.

Start with red for the largest circle and then down to purple for  the smallest. You're actually cutting out circle frames, using two dies. Then, cut one large solid circle from a light blue that you would use for the sky.

Glue the circles onto the large blue circle base.

Place the glued circles onto the trimmer and cut in half.

Now, you have two rainbows!

Cut some clouds, free hand from white cardstock.

Layer a light blue piece of cardstock onto a blank card. Tape a rainbow on top.

Add the clouds and you are done! Give your extra rainbow away or make another card to spread some cheeriness!

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you and your family were safe from Darby. Here's to better weather and more fun crafting!

Make It Monday - Getting ready to Celebrate!

Our HouseMart Ace Hardware and Ben Franklin Craft stores will be celebrating our company's 65th Anniversary this Saturday, July 23. So, I thought I'd make some "65" decorations by using the WeR Alphabet Punch Board!

This board can also make numbers besides all the alphabets and a few symbols.

 Most numbers/alphabets just take a 3" x 5" piece of cardstock. Here, I have two 3" x 5" red glitter cardstocks.

The most important thing is that the board comes with a book with step-by-step photos to make all of the alphabets and numbers. Keep it safely with your board so you don't lose it!

First, I 'll make the "5".

The first step is to insert the cardstock into this punch, lining up to the line on the board. Punch.

Next, flip the cardstock over and punch.

Now, place the punched piece in the trimmer section. Remove the cutting blade tool from the board and place the rounded part in the different slots to trim.

Place the blade in the different slots and trim as indicated in the book.

This is how it will look after the first two cuts.

Turn the piece upside down to make the last cut.

Next, turn the piece on its side and trim. Isn't it starting to look like a "5"?

Now, move the piece to the corner rounder punch. Follow the book's instructions and round the right hand middle corner.

Then, round the right hand bottom corner.

Follow the book's instructions to make a "6" with the other cardstock. Now, we're ready to add this to our 65th anniversary decorations!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you join us this Saturday at all of our stores between 10 am - 12noon for some fun games, make and takes and other activities as we celebrate our 65th Anniversary. Happy Crafting!
