Handmade Flower Friday - Kusudama style

I've always liked the look of these flowers but always thought that they were too hard to make. Guess what?! They're not as hard as I thought!

For folding purposes, I like using a paper thinner than cardstock, but most are not double-sided.
So, I made my own by gluing on a piece of origami paper to the back. You will need five squares per flower, I made mine 2" x 2".

The folding is actually really simple, see...

Fold in half diagonally, making a triangle.

Fold up each corner to the center point. Crease well.

Unfold, and then fold in half to the new crease line, both sides.

Now you have to "squash" fold or flatten the sides down, forming a "kite" shape.

Fold the tops down, showing the silver side of the paper. I like it this way because you will be able to see some of the silver later. If you are using one-sided paper , you may want to just tuck the top in.

Fold the sides in half again.

Form the petal by bringing the sides together. Tape together in the middle.

Trim the pointed tip. Now, let's put the flower together!

Place the petals next to each other and tape together along the sides. I plopped down a Pop Up Glue Dot and then placed my petals on top.

Almost done! I slightly curl the tips of the petals to shape the flower.

I punched out some leaves and place them at the bottom of the flower. Made a flower center with some resin flowers and bling. Glue dotted it to the center hole

These flowers will be great on favors or added to photo frames, anything 3-D!

After I made my first bunch of flowers for a Handmade flower exchange, Card Maker magazine came out with the instructions in the current issue, you can also refer to that for how-tos.

Try making some, they are SUPER EASY! and everyone will think you worked so hard them, well, unless, they read this blog! Secrets out!LOL!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you get to enjoy a long weekend! Happy Crafting!
