January's Second Joy of Crafting Show

We're already half way through January, can you believe it? Well, that means it's getting closer to Valentine's day! On this second show, we have a few projects we think you'll just LOVE!

Cheryl is back with a cute Sizzix project using the new scoreboard die - Heart Bag. It's fast and easy and really cute!

And Katie from our Market City store is back with a cute felt owl. She turns it into a sweet hairclip, how Adorable! ***JUST ADDED! Here's the  project sheet!

Then, I'll show you how to make a frame using stretcher bars. I turn  it into a little shabby chic holder for my little tags and trinkets.

Joy of Crafting's first show of 2013!

Happy New Year, Crafties! It's time for a new Joy of Crafting show!

I start off the show with a Carnation bear!

It's simple and cute, perfect for Valentine's day, birthdays, graduations and more! We even have a
project sheet for you.

Next up, we have Cheryl Miyashiro with another cute card.
 
 

It's an easy window card using Sizzix Framelits and that cute dandelion designs doggie.

Our next guest makes her debut to the show, Katie O'Shea from Market City Ben Franklin Crafts.

Katie shares a cute project from her childhood. You can make her Heart Pocket with your little ones, too!

Creative Office Wreaths

So, as you saw with our Halloween Costumes, the Ben Franklin Crafts Honolulu Office has some pretty creative people. And they LOVE to CRAFT!

So, we divided up into teams by department and four people each. The result is 5 Super Fun wreaths!  Every team started with a 12" extruded foam wreath that they had to use. Here's what the teams came up with...

 I call this the Blue wreath, made of curled strips of blue cardstock  in different shades. Good idea if you want something to perfectly match your color scheme!

This one I call the Sweet wreath. It uses Deco Mesh ribbon and is decorated with sweets.

See the center heart candies! So Cute!

This next one, I call the Donut Door wreath. They mounted their wreath on a hand made door with a fancy door handle.

The donut's star and sprinkles were made with Perler beads. And the donut twinkles from a flashing lightbulb necklace.

Next is the Grinch wreath. In this case, a scarecrow was reborn into the Grinch with a very good hand-drawn and painted face! What talent!

The Grinch holds a Dream Catcher wreath covered with some of their team's favorite things that represents them.

The last wreath I call the Slippah wreath. It has four pairs of handmade slippahs made of foamies. Each slippah is supposed to represent the person who made it.

A hand stamped and blinged slippah.

An eco-friendly design decoupaged slippah.

A barefoot happy slippah.

A colorful watercolor slippah.

Now, these wreaths were made for a contest and the winners will be chosen on Thursday by a panel of judges. It doesn't matter which team wins, everyone had a lot of FUN working together to make their wreath.

Can you guess which wreath was made by which department team? There are two teams from Accounting, one from Advertising, one from Human Resources and one from IT.

The last Joy of Crafting Show for 2012

Tonight premieres the last Joy of Crafting show for 2012, and it's an exciting one!There's action and comedy and new faces, too!

 Marcus from Lahaina Ace Hardware is back with more Hardware Science experiments. It's always great when you can learn something and have fun, too!

 

Then, I'm next with a project to get ready for 2013! It's a recycled envelope calendar.At the end of the year, you can bind it to make a scrapbook.

Joy of Crafting's First December show

I can't believe some people have all of their Christmas wrapped and ready to go! Amazing! But for those of you, like me,  who still need a few more ideas, we have some for you on this first December show.

 I start the show with a quick project using the candy stick bags and Sixlets candy for an elf. Sixlets are so nostalgic for me because I went to Washington Intermediate. Behind our school, we had "Back Store" where we would buy Nibblets and Sixlets to eat with our Suicide drinks (mixed up sodas), and can't forget the hamburgers!OK, 'nuff about memory lane...

Talk about mixing things up, our next very special guest came all the way from Lahaina, Maui. Marcus Curimao teaches us about science in a fun way using basic everyday items you can find in a hardware store. The book, "The Wizard's Book of Science Secrets" can be found at all of our Ace Hardware stores on the neighbor islands and at the Pioneer Ace stores here on Oahu. Makes a great gift for the kids and kids-at-heart!

Lastly, I'll show you another quick Holiday Treat Holder that you can whip up really fast. Great for your office gang!
