FlashBackFriday - Were you there?

Flashback to January 2010, we did a "live" taping of the Joy of Crafting show inside the Mapunapuna Ben Franklin Crafts store. It was so much FUN!

We invited about 40 Craft Club members to watch us tape two shows. And we did it "Oprah" style! Everyone in the audience received a goodie bag of snacks to munch on and there were gifts from each segment plus extra prize drawings! We even had a "virtual" viewer who won prizes, too!

Well, this month, The Joy of Crafting Show will be celebrating National Craft Month and also our 299th and 300th shows! We will have chances for you to win different prizes throughout the month, so tune in on Sunday to learn more, OC16 on Oceanic's channel 12 at 6:30 pm!

WIBD - What I Been Doing

Okay, everyone likes to tag each other on Instagram with #WIDN - What I Doing Now. Well, right now, I'm letting you know about some Free Fun for the whole family! It's been a fun first two weeks of June being a part of the Hawaii State Libray System's Summer Reading Program! This year's theme is Heroes, Everyday Heroes and Super Heroes!

Our HouseMart Ben Franklin Crafts and Ace Hardware stores are visiting libraries across the state, on all islands, including Molokai and Lanai this year! We're bringing our HouseMart Superhero Academy where keiki of all ages can learn some Hardware Science and do a little crafting, too! Check here to see our  library schedule.

The main thing, stay safe!

As we prepare for Iselle and Julio to hit our Hawaiian Islands, we are thankful for all of the prayers and good thoughts being sent out from our mainland friends and fellow crafters.

For the safety of our customers and employees, our Hilo Ben Franklin Crafts store has already closed and our Kahului store will be closing at 3pm in preparation for Iselle. Our Big Island Ace stores should all be closed by 2pm today as well.

Here's hoping that we all get through this okay. Stay safe everyone!

Blankets of Aloha - Please Help if You Can!

Aloha Monday Crafters! I know crafters are the most thoughtful and caring people so I wanted to share what our HouseMart stores are doing to help the people of the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.

Our HouseMart Ben Franklin Craft stores along with our HM Ace Hardware stores are collecting blanket donations for Tacloban, Philippines. We are trying to collect as many new blankets as we can before the November 30 deadline for the first shipment.

We will continue to collect and send blankets but we want to send as many as we can with this first critical shipment.

All of our stores are drop off locations, so please help if you can.

Another way to help will be during the Kokua for Philippines telethon concert on Sunday, December 15. I'll be answering phones during the telethon and would love for you to call in your pledges.

As in the tsunami that hit Japan, this tragic event in the Philippines touches everyone in Hawaii, we all know someone effected. Let's reach out across the ocean and send waves of Aloha.
